Episode 2 is complete! We’re paying tribute to the NCAA March Basketball tournament. Below are the show notes and a chance to listen to the .mpe audio podcast (we are also now on iTunes, Stitcher and Blackberry). Join us on this episode of DadPOD!
DadPOD episode 2 is all about March madness. Host, Jeff Abramovitz, shares a little about bracketology and why he thinks this is the greatest sporting event in sport. There is also a contest that DadPad is holding for you fellow March Madness Crazies. And, you can win a $50 resource pack. More information to follow (or go to dadpad.org/dadpad-madness to find out how to enter). Additionally, I discuss how to deal with Anger (MADNESS) and reference a project we’re doing on the DadPad blog, Leaving a Legacy project.
During the discussion about Madness I outline 6 things you can do to help you control your anger, especially toward your family and help you resolve the issues versus exacerbating the situation.
- Get Healthy
- Get Rested
- Get Grounded
- Discuss at the right time
- Discuss with an appropriate approach
- Remember, Your Mate and your kids are not your enemy
We moved onto MARCH…marching on a journey to leaving a legacy of your story to your children. Every Monday we are putting forth a blog post that asks men to record some responses to fun, sometimes serious and more intimate questions about their lives past, present and hopes that kids don’t often ask. The idea is that we will leave a legacy of who we are in something that others can read, not just recall. If you want to join us just start following and putting this together. Click here to start recording your life’s legacy.
Finally, we talk about starting or using events like the NCAA March Madness to establish fun, regular traditions in your family. We started filling out the brackets a number of years ago when all my kids made decisions based on the mascots of the teams or wanting to choose the highest seeds for fun. We still do it as a family today. What can you do as a family to enjoy each other and have some fun?
Next week we hope to have the producer of Home Run, a movie hitting the theaters on April 19. Carol Spann Matthews will join us if we can work it out with her publicist. Additionally we are lining up other men and fathers as well as women and get their perspective on fatherhood in their homes. And, my daughter will join us on an episode soon :).
