What is in this weeks DadPOD podcast?
Summary – In This Weeks DadPOD:
In this week’s DadPOD podcast, guest Jess MacCallum joins me to discuss parenting, marriage, cartoons, super heros and he will almost show us his tattoo that he got with his son (will have to listen to find out more about that).
I met Jess when I worked on the staff of FamilyLife. Jess was coming in to do a FamilyLife Today radio program that was mostly about his book, “I’ve Married Wonder Woman…Now What?” I picked Jess up at the airport and took him to his hotel. Jess has also written another marriage book entitled, “Put the Seat Down (And Other Brilliant Insights for an Awesome First Year of Marriage)”. I knew I liked Jess from the moment we met on the way from the airport to his hotel (a long 15 min drive–everything is 15-20 minutes away in Little Rock). We had dinner the day he was interviewed and I have stayed connected to him since then. I’ve helped him with some social media strategies and he’s been my graphic artist, designing the logo for my 2Degrees Media digital strategy consulting business.
During this interview we discuss:
- Marriage/books that he’s written
- Time spent with his son and guidance he’s given him with regard to college and career as a young man who wants to play music
- Dad/daughter relationships
- How he has come up with the ideas for his very clever cartoons and his “famous” I Hate Monday’s quips that he puts on his Facebook page.
- General discussion about “training up a child in the way they should go” application.
Jess is an interesting and enjoyable conversationalist and I know you’ll enjoy hearing him.
Tribute to Man’s Best Friend
Yesterday (April 1) we had to put our 15 yr old Golden Retriever, Ginger, down. She closed her eyes for the last time and I didn’t fully understand the joy she gave me until she wasn’t here. I wrote a tribute to her on DadPad as a form of catharsis. If you’ve ever loved and lost a dog or other animal you’ll be able to relate.
